Maxeen Flower, a lifelong resident of Greater Cleveland, graduated from Flora Stone Mather. Subsequently she enrolled and graduated from The Cleveland Institute of Art. She devoted several years working in the Art Department of American Greetings, then entered the design business with her own company, Maxeens, which specialized in antique furniture and objects, mostly from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, imported from Europe. She ran this business for fifteen years.
She is well known in Cleveland where she is an Honorary Trustee of the Cleveland Museum of Art, a 26-year member of University Hospital Board of Trustees, and a Trustee of the Cleveland Institute of Art. She is married to the President Emeritus of Cleveland State, Dr. John Flower.
For the last decade she has produced still life photographic compositions. Richly detailed and brilliantly colored, they give the illusion of Dutch Masters oil paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Comprised of one or more subjects each photograph adheres to the following precepts: To See, To Touch, To Smell, To Taste, To Hear.
Flower has exhibited extensively, both locally and nationally and has won numerous awards.
